What kid doesn’t like dragons, and what parent would miss an opportunity to practice counting? I think I have found two wonderful books for your dragon loving kiddos.
Two Great Books!

Ten Hungry Dragons by Lorna Lovell Stallman is a wonderful counting book in which baby dragons go out to find food for dinner. Each dragon brings back something different, such as blueberries and pumpkins, to the dragon’s den. There is also a rhyming pattern that accompanies each number.
Ten Minutes to Bed, Little Dragon by Rhiannon Fielding and Chris Chatterton follows two baby dragons, Flicker and Flash, as they race to get a dragon egg home right in time for bed. Even though this is just a children’s picture book, it includes a map of the world at the front of the book. This book also follows a couplet rhyming pattern throughout the story.
Both of these books are wonderful and can definitely be paired together for a storytime. The main difference between them is that Ten Hungry Dragons focuses on counting, while Ten Minutes to Bed, Little Dragon focuses on the story’s plot, with counting serving as an added bonus.
