Clothespin Monsters

Clothespin monsters are a great craft for kids who are in Kinder through 8th grade. The activity takes about 30 minutes for kids to create but can take longer if you have them make multiple or have specific design requirements.

How To Make The Monsters

Supplies:

  • Glue
  • Clothespin
  • Construction Paper or Any Paper
  • Markers
  • Scissors

Steps:

  1. Start with construction paper and have the kids draw their outline for their monsters. Depending on the age of the children you might want to have examples they can choose from. For older kids you can give them parameters such as the height of the monster or the monster must have antennas or feet.
  2. Once the monster outline is drawn have them decorate their monster. Remind the kids that the mouth of the monsters goes all the way across the monster’s body.
  3. When the kids are done designing their monsters they will cut out the monsters and cut the mouth of the monster open.
  4. Lastly the kids will glue the monsters onto the clothespin. This is the hardest part because the kids must hold the paper into place for at least 2 minuets and they must set their creations down on the table and leave them alone for another 5 minuets. This is to give the glue enough time to dry.
